Preparation for the Coffee Production Training for the Cempaka Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Sungkung I Village

On June 29–30, 2025, the Swadaya Dian Khatulistiwa Foundation (YSDK), in collaboration with the Agricultural Field Extension Officers (PPL) of Siding Subdistrict, conducted an initial capacity mapping activity as a preparatory step for the Coffee Production Training for the Cempaka Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Sungkung I Village, Siding Subdistrict, Bengkayang Regency.
Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memperkuat peran perempuan dalam sektor pertanian, khususnya dalam budidaya dan pengolahan kopi serta pengembangan produk turunannya.
During the facilitation process, YSDK also carried out intensive coordination with the Siding Subdistrict Head, the Subdistrict Agricultural Field Extension Officers (PPL), and the Head of Sungkung I Village to ensure administrative and technical support for the planned training agenda.

The mapping results indicate that the Cempaka Women Farmers Group (KWT) has strong potential to independently develop a coffee-based enterprise. These findings also serve as the basis for registering the group into the SIMLUHTAN system (Agricultural Extension Information System).

In addition, the YSDK team conducted mapping of community-owned coffee farms belonging to Mr. Joni, Mr. Kim, Mr. Hartono, and Mrs. Dewi. These farms have cultivated various local coffee types, including Arabica, Liberica, and Robusta, reflecting the rich diversity of coffee varieties grown in this border region.

It is expected that this initiative will serve as an early step toward achieving local economic independence and strengthening women’s empowerment in border areas such as Sungkung Village.
