Mini Workshop on Drafting the Village Regulation on Women and Child Friendly Villages (DRPPA) in Siding Village

To support the implementation of Bengkayang Regent Regulation No. 81 of 2024 on Women and Child Friendly Villages (DRPPA), the Swadaya Dian Khatulistiwa Foundation (YSDK), in collaboration with the Siding Village Government, held a Mini Workshop on the Drafting of the DRPPA Village Regulation on August 30–31, 2025, in Siding Village, Siding Subdistrict.

This activity aims to strengthen understanding, participation, and collective commitment among all stakeholders in realizing a village that is inclusive, women-friendly, and supportive of children.

This workshop serves as a follow-up to the women’s forum previously conducted across 12 partner villages facilitated by YSDK. The event was attended by the Sub-district Head of Siding, the Village Head of Siding, representatives from the Siding Police Sector, Village Government officials, the Village Customary Council (LAD), YSDK Gender Cadres, and the Women’s Representative of the Village Consultative Body (BPD).
The discussion focused on the importance of aligning the Village Regulation (PERDES) on Women and Child Friendly Villages (DRPPA) with district level policies, the role of customary institutions in fostering an inclusive community, and the urgency of village regulations as a legal framework for the protection of women and children. In addition, participants collaboratively formulated concrete program ideas to further strengthen Siding Village as a women and child friendly community, in line with the policy direction of Bengkayang District.
With the establishment of the DRPPA Village Regulation, it is expected that the village will strengthen its collective commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive environment that prioritizes the rights and well-being of women and children.
