GAPOKTAN Empening Mandiri: Sowing the Seeds of Food Independence

Best Practice YSDK

Empening Independent Farmers Group: Planting the Seeds of Food Independence is a book of good practices that documents the process of assisting and strengthening farmers' institutions in building a more independent and sustainable food system.

This publication not only showcases achievements, but also records the learning process that forms the foundation for change, namely consistency in implementing programs, persistence in the face of failure, including seven attempts at ginger cultivation before success, and the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration known as the spirit of “kepong bakol”. Pendekatan ini menunjukkan bahwa transformasi komunitas memerlukan proses, partisipasi, dan komitmen bersama.

Going forward, this initiative is aimed at developing the area as a community-based agricultural education and tourism center, optimizing the use of livestock waste to support the circular economy, and strengthening human and institutional capacity so that the program's impact can be sustainable and replicable.

This book is intended to be an open learning resource for civil society organizations, governments, development partners, and other communities in strengthening food security in vulnerable areas.
