Collaboration Experience

The following are some experiences of the Swadaya Dian Khatulistiwa Foundation's collaboration with several national and international organizations:

Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) – German

  • The self-help development project for transmigration and surrounding communities was implemented in 1992 – 1996 throughout West Kalimantan, especially Pontianak (Kubu Raya), Sambas, Bengkayang, Sanggau, Sintang, Melawi and Ketapang Regencies. Apart from improving the welfare of transmigration residents, this project also aims to reduce social disparities and potential conflicts between local communities and transmigration residents.

GTZ – German

  • Kalimantan Upland Farming System Project or KUF in 1994 – 1998 with a focus on activities on microfinance, developing community self-reliance, marketing agricultural products and building relationships between community self-help groups and banks to support business development

Misereor – German

  • Integrated Rural Development Project in Sekayam, Sanggau District, West Kalimantan. The project, which was implemented in 1998 - 1999, aims to facilitate or assist farmers to manage natural resources in the agricultural sector optimally in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

CRS Indonesia

  • Sustainable Agricultural Development Project in Sanggau district, with the main activities strengthening human resources, conservation, seed banking, integrated pest control, market access. This project was implemented in 1998 – 2002 in several border areas in Sanggau district.

  • Community-Based Basic Health Project (PKBM) which pays attention to clean water and environmental sanitation, maternal and child health, participatory approaches in planning, monitoring and evaluation as well as strengthening community self-help groups. This project was implemented in 2001 – 2002 with a location in the border area of Sanggau district.

  • Development of market access for farmers in villages in the border areas of Sanggau district and relocation communities for victims of the Sambas social conflict in Kubu Raya district in 2006 - 2008.

  • The Project for Strengthening the Reconciliation Process between Sambas social conflict victim communities was implemented in Kubu Raya and Sambas districts in 2006 – 2008.

Ford Foundation

  • Dayak Traditional Ikat Weaving Development Project in Sintang, collaboration with PRCF America and Kobus Center in 1999 – 2001.

NRM-USAID

  • Community Health Program for The People Living In Buffer Zone Area Of National Park Bukit Baka Bukit Raya Sintang project in 1994 – 1996.

  • Policy Dialogue on the Development of National Park Gunung Palong kabupaten Ketapang pada tahun 2000 – 2001.

Finnantara Intiga

  • A joint company between Enso Finland, Inhutani Indonesia and PT Gudang Garam Indonesia for paper raw material plantations. YSDK became a local consultant to facilitate community self-reliance development activities in 1996 – 1997.

Canada Fund

  • Project to increase community income based on community rubber plantations in Sanggau district and peanut cultivation system in border villages of Sanggau district in 2003 – 2004.

JICA Jepang

  • Study on Best Practice Case Study for Community Development under Decentralization Era in West Kalimantan in collaboration with JICA, CESS Jakarta, Bappeda Provisni West Kalimantan and NGO YSDK in 2003 – 2004.

  • Study on Human Resources Development, Education and Basic Health in Less-Developed Areas in West Kalimantan, in collaboration with JICA, Bappeda of West Kalimantan Province, Tanjungpura University and NGO YSDK in 2003-2004.

  • Organizing a Workshop on Regional Development Management under Decentralization Era in collaboration with JICA, Bappeda of West Kalimantan Province and NGO YSDK in 2003-2004; and Study on Master Plan Development for In-Land Area in West Kalimantan, in collaboration with JICA, Bappeda of West Kalimantan Province, Tanjungpura University and NGO YSDK in 2004.

JBIC-Japan Bank for International Copperation

  • Study on microfinance for poverty alleviation in West Kalimantan, collaboration between JANIC-Japan, JBIC or Japan Bank for International Cooperation, and Bina Swadaya Jakarta in 2003.

Community Water Service and Health Project/WSHP-ADB

  • Participatory Rural Appraisal on Community Water Services and Health in 6 districts in West Kalimantan province namely Landak, Sambas, Kapuas Hulu, Sanggau, Sintang, Pontianak in collaboration with ADB and the Department of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2003 - 2004.

APFED -Asia Pacific Forum for Environment and Development

  • Project Improving Agricultural Practices in Peat Soil in West Kalimantan, October 2007 – March 2009.

CORDAID Belanda

  • Project Advocating For Pro-Social Justice Polices For Strengthening The Reconciliation Process Between the Malay and Madurese Communities in West Kalimantan pada tahun 2008-2011.

EED German

  • Project Setting Up Multi Stakeholder Network For Conflict Prevention And Transformation in west Kalimantan pada tahun 2011-2012.

Indonesian Partnership

  • Study of the Potential of the Economic Growth Center to spur the development of villages in the border area of Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan in 2011.

  • Preparation of Modules for Workshops and Training on Management of Regional Government Development Policies and Programs for the Achievement of Millennium Development Goal Targets in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan in 2011.

  • Strengthening the Management of Border Areas Through the Empowerment of the Community's Economic Development Program in Sanggau, West Kalimantan in 2011.
